World Book Day Costume: Dress As Philly And Win £100!
We love World Book Day here at Philly & Friends HQ! We take it very seriously and go all out to make it a special day.
Last year, my daughter, the real-life Philly, requested to dress up as Philly from our debut book, "Who Do I See in the Mirror?". She simply said, "Mummy, I want to go as myself."
I teared up a little (or maybe a lot) because it meant the work we do at Philly & Friends is truly worthwhile. Representation matters! We do it for the kids, not just mine, but all of our kids.
I knew she was serious when she asked how I planned to make her hair look similar to Philly's in the book, since her hair is much longer. Thankfully, we had the magic of shrinkage and scarves on our side!
We're raising children who are proud of who they are and who also accept and appreciate the differences in others. It makes my heart so happy, and I hope it makes yours happy too!
